NETWORK OPERATION CENTRE CONTROL ROOM
We are proud to have successfully delivered a landmark project involving the full upgrade of an Operations Centre and Reporting Centre for one of the South African Government’s Municipalities.
The key highlight is the installation of a 16.2m x 3.0m curved LED Video Wall System – the first of its kind in SA and further afield, featuring ultra-fine 0.9mm pixel pitch LED modules. This cutting-edge display solution offers unrivalled resolution, seamless visuals, and a truly immersive viewing experience – setting a new benchmark in control room technology.
This project involved a comprehensive refurbishment of the Network Operations Centre (NOC), covering all aspects from flooring and shopfitting to network cabling and the installation of custom-built operator consoles. In addition, the Fault Reporting Centre was upgraded with the installation of a 2×2 Barco UniSee Video Wall System.
This display setup is fully integrated and can be monitored directly from the Network Control Centre. The main video wall is powered by the Novastar H15 display processor, and both solutions are integrated with the Barco TransForm-N controllers and CMS (control room management) software suite. This secure, always-on network operating control now stands as a showcase of innovation, reliability and functional design, fully equipped to support the City’s mission-critical operations
SMART URBAN SURVEILLANCE SOLUTIONS
Bona’s Smart Urban Surveillance Solutions deliver sustainable technology for real-time monitoring and advanced analytics to enhance public safety, support law enforcement, and improve urban management across city streets, transport hubs, and public spaces.
Our solutions are purpose-built to give city authorities and security teams a comprehensive, unified view of their environment – enablin faster response times, more informed decision-making, and a measurable improvement in the safety and security of the communities we serve.
Our Variable Message Signs are engineered for South Africa’s demanding environmental conditions – built to withstand extreme heat, high winds, and variable weather while maintaining clear, high-visibility messaging at all times. Each sign is remotely programmable, allowing traffic management centres to update messaging in real time in response to incidents, road closures, adverse weather conditions, or planned events.
Whether communicating speed limit changes, lane restrictions, accident warnings, or travel time information, our VMS solutions play a critical role in improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, and enhancing road safety across the province’s most critical routes.
We are proud to support South Africa’s road authorities in building a smarter, safer, and more connected transport network.
VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGNS
Intelligent Communication Across South Africa’s Key Routes
Variable Message Signs (VMS) provide a smart, reliable way to communicate with motorists in real time. These digital displays deliver critical, up-to-the-minute information that helps drivers make informed decisions before and during their journeys.
Bona has deployed over 100+ Variable Message Signs across key routes throughout Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, and the Western Cape.

SANRAL ITS DBOM CONTRACTS
Eastern Cape, Gauteng & Western Cape
Bona is proud to be delivering three concurrent Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Design, Build, Operate and Maintain (DBOM) contracts for SANRAL, spanning the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, and Western Cape – a achievement that places us firmly at the forefront of freeway management in South Africa.
Our work in Gauteng and the Western Cape, as sub-contractor to the Tolcon Group, has built a strong foundation of technical expertise and operational reliability.
The award of the Eastern Cape contract takes this further – marking the first-ever ITS deployment in the province and our first fully greenfields DBOM project.
From a brand-new Traffic Management Centre to integrated CCTV, traffic sensors, traveller information systems, and green energy solutions, we are building smart transport infrastructure from the ground up.
Together, these three contracts reflect our ability to manage both legacy upgrades and full greenfields deployments at a national scale and reinforce our long-term partnership with SANRAL in advancing South. Africa’s road safety, traffic efficiency, and transport intelligence goals.
Our involvement in the Gauteng and Western Cape contracts began in 2021, when the Tolcon Group was awarded the freeway management system (FMS) DBOM contracts for both provinces. As sub-contractor to Tolcon, Bona is responsible for the build and maintain portions of these contracts – work that has deepened our technical expertise and strengthened a partnership built on consistent, reliable delivery.
GAUTENG TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT CENTRE
ICT Infrastructure
The Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) awarded Bona the Transport Management Centre (TMC) contract to supply, install, maintain and support Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for the Gauteng Transport Management Centre (TMC) on behalf of the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GDRT).
This TMC hosts various stakeholders to enable efficient planning, monitoring and management of transport services and public transport operations in the Province.
We successfully implemented a 21.12-meter wide and 1.8-meter-high LED Video Wall, with a 1.86mm pixel pitch, including the video wall graphics controller and software, which delivers content to the main video wall and the four boardroom displays, together with full conferencing and audio-visual abilities – 165” LED Screen, 138” LED screen, and 2 x 110” LED Screens in the Boardrooms.
We also supplied and installed 52 x Computer Workstations, a secure Local Area Network and Wi-Fi Solution, Cyber Security and a 30 min + Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) Solution.
